How to issue open badges in 5 steps using WordPress + WPBadger
July 25, 2012
Commentary by Stephen Downes
OK, I think a 'how to issue badges' post is a good idea. Unformtinately, this one is like: "Install badge-making software. Run software." (p.s. Usually I just run the origianal post without editing, but I am increasingly clearing post title of tag, since tags don't belong in titles).

Thanks for sharing this, Stephen. Confused about two things, though:
1. What else were you expecting from the post about how to issue badges?
2. I agree that it's not optimal to have hashtags in titles, but it pretty much *forces* people to use them. Which makes life easier when aggregating/analysing/etc. :-) [Comment] [Permalink] [Previous][Next]

Well - for example, what if you're not using WordPress? What would you do? Suppose you only have basic tools? [Comment] [Permalink] [Previous][Next]

Indeed. Perhaps I should have pointed towards http://badg.us and the upcoming OpenBadger.
I'm fairly sure this post does what it says on the tin, though! ;-) [Comment] [Permalink] [Previous][Next]

Just pointing people to http://badg.us would be pretty useless. It's got all kinds of garbage (well - what I call garbage - non-useful links) on the home page. There's the 'create' page here - http://badg.us/en-US/badges/create - which is a simple form. But then, why do you need to do all that stuff with WordPress?
On the bright side, this conversation exposed my to Firefox's new 'browser login' and personal ID. - worth exploring. [Comment] [Permalink] [Previous][Next]
