Here's the argument: "Understanding human culture as evolved exploitation technology reveals why AI represents such a dangerous inflection point. We're not facing the risk of artificial intelligence taking over; we're facing the risk of the most sophisticated exploitation technology ever created being wielded by the same types of individuals and systems that have always dominated human civilization." I think the argument has merit, but it's not clear to me that 'the most sophisticated' is the same as 'the most effective'. In places like North Korea and Afghanistan, where the internet has been cut off entirely, we're seeing the weapon of exploitation being applied in a much different - but arguably more effective - manner.
