This article looks at xAPI and especially some recent work to popularize it by Megan Torrence. This is the relevant point: " xAPI's real might is interoperability. Understand the basic tenets of xAPI, and you will be able to critically see any educational technology, and explore its possibilities within the context of integration." Of course, the road to interoperability isn't smooth, and xAPI will have to achieve it not only with the core specification but also the models and recipes for using xAPI.
