This is a strong post on what does and does not count as critical thinking, how to think of it in the context of other learning, and factors impacting critical thinking in general and inference in particular. I would make one minor but important to this presentation, which is to include abductive reasoning and explanation into the purview of critical thinking, and to add discussion about the important roles of definition and description as well. But really, if you're mired in some debate about critical thinking, you could do far worse than to be guided by this article.
