Eugen Rochko, the creator of Mastodon, posted the other day that he is switching over to the Vivaldi browser because of Firefox's recent embrace of AI. I'm still using Firefox and haven't really noticed any impact from AI at all, but of course this could change. Anyhow, this post from Wes Fryer uses a video from Iceland by the Vivaldi people as a device to frame his own discussion of the browser. Well, stuff about Iceland will catch my attention, as I spent five weeks there over the summer. Fryer comments, "in our attention economy as well as maturing surveillance state, it's important that we take actions to understand privacy better, protect our own privacy more, and help educate others about these issues and options."
