I think this article makes some good points (Ian O'Byrne has gotten a lot better recently, and I'm not complaining). The core argument here is that existing AI systems are optimized for engagement, not learning. They're not based on getting the facts right, understanding basic principles like causation, or prioritizing student safety. They just want to draw you into a conversation and keep you talking, driving up that token count (which, eventually, you will have to pay for). I think it's a good point and that we should think about what we want to use in education before we build frameworks and governance for it.
