I am inclined to agree, but the design is important. Setting up an adversarial-style area with 'winners' and 'losers' is not a recipe for consensus and progress, in my view. So I'm not sold on the specific process being implemented, "teams preparing arguments for or against key Wikimedia topics (with) moderators, jury selection, and community voting to ensure fairness." But if Wikipedia has shown anything over the years, it is the flexibility to learn and develop new methods.
