I'm compiling some items I've had on the backburner for other projects over the last few weeks. This article, from pre-ChatGPT daya and pre-Covid days, considers the question of sensemaking (whatever that is) in group discussions. This more precise description suggests a useful functionality, though: "CCI tools provide a rich source of semantic data that, if appropriately processed, can generate powerful analytics of the online discourse." Today we would use AI to perform these functions: "summarise the state and progress of a debate; identify and assess important contributions; focus users' attention on missing, contradictory, conflicting points; highlight hidden content, social, behavioural and discourse patterns in the debate." But how we present that, and how we use it - these are still open questions.
