Maybe now we can go back to making podcasts for each other recording audio on our phones and using RSS feeds to share with each other. "The podcast boom is over, and this week's news is evidence. Spotify laid off 17% of the company – its third round of layoffs this year – and canceled two highly acclaimed shows." Oh, but wait. Not so fast. "As a whole, the podcast industry didn't fail. It's just that Spotify took a billion dollar swing and whiffed, and now, podcasters themselves have to navigate the fallout." People might not recall (but OLDaily does!) that Spotify tried to become the podcast platform by acquiring everybody else (and paying Joe Rogan $200 million. All the acquisitions produced was a lot of debt, which Spotify has since been trying to wring from producers and listeners.
