I spent some time this afternoon exploring Newsmast, a news services "backed by a charitable foundation and powered by Mastodon... non-profit and ad-free." I lioke the concept and at first blush it looks like a decent general news application (though, as pundits say, most news is local). "I wish I could just login with an existing Mastodon account instead of making a new one…and that feature is planned," writes Miguel Guhlin. "Thinking about bringing in educators, I sure wish we could make an app for Mastodon.Education that people could sign up with on iOS or Android, and auto-populates with lists of educators."
