Knowledge, Learning, Community

This article combines three separate stories rather awkwardly, but leads us ultimately to something that is genuinely interesting. The three stories are: fears of Latinx students that they are "not smart enough" to study computer technology; students "taken away from more meaningful learning experiences and kind of plugged into computer screens where it's basically a flashcard"; and failure to celebrate Latinx education systems. It's this third item that leads to something interesting, via a link to a fascinating article that looks at higher education in the Mayan, Aztec and Incan societies. For example, "The Yachahuasi was open to the Incan nobility and included instruction in Quechuan laws, poetry, rhetoric, the oral tradition, and science." Via Miguel Guhlin.
