Speaking before a group of engineers, former Ontario Premier Mike Harris asked, "where would you be if you had studied philosophy and Latin?" Not unemployed, probably; my own formal education in philosophy turns out to be uniquely useful for an internet career. No, but the danger of a liberal education - and the reason, possibly, why some oppose funding it - is that a certain large percentage of the graduates turn out to be liberals, or worse, "the hip radical insurgent of varying Marxist, Feminist, Queer and post-colonial stripes awaiting the new dawn."
