EdX CEO Anant Agarwal gives us his three major trends for the year: education emphasizing hybrid skills, education goes omnichannel, and education underscoring soft skills remains critical. What each of these represents in one way or another is a breakdown in the silos that have characterized the way we've traditionally organized education - subject-based silos, delivery-based silos, discipline-based silos. A fourth silo that Agarwal does not mention is institution-based silos, though I see no reason why people should be loyal to one school or another in the future.
