Amy Ahearn s looking for an alternative MOOC design "that look less like a cavernous stadium and more like a honeycomb." At first I though she was recommending a cMOOC-style design, but no such luck. "Counterintuitively, to build meaningful global learning communities, we need to build walls," she writes, comparing the situation of MOOCs to the open-concept classrooms of the 1970s (which I personally experienced, and which were nothing like MOOCs). So instead, she "designed an online program for a cohort of 16 nonprofit leaders." But this isn't the answer either. Nor is offering classrooms for 16 people "at scale".
