OK, I am first of all going to agree with Michael feldstein that this is a pretty good paper. It is very clearly written, well argued, concise, documented and persuasive. It is written for a specific audience, I would say, which allows the authors to draw upon common goals and purpose. The dual metrics of retention and graduation rates are well-supported against a base of values that focuses on graduate income and institutional recruitment expenses. If - like me - your set of values differs, then this paper will be less convincing. But this paper wasn't written to convince me - it was written to outline a position about measurement to someone who has already bought into it. PDF. Via Michael Feldstein.
