These two announcements by WebCT highlight the shape of institutional online learning to come. The gist of the announcements is that WebCT, the course delivery tool, will integrate with campus administrative tools such as Datatel and PeopleSoft. This means that the registrar, the instructor, the fees area and human resources are all working on one integrated system. Assuming it all works (and there's no reason to assume that it wouldn't), this gives WebCT a stranglehold in the institutional LMS market (and makes it a valuable acquisition target).
