I compare two metaphors for learning: first, time, as the dominant metaphor, which is a linear and ordered progression toward a goal; and second, space, which is a non-linear exploration of a domain. I also examine the sort of tools. technologies and learning supports we should be thinking about when think of learning from a space-based perspective.
