According to their press release, Spotify is starting to trial video courses in the U.K. This article spots a trend: "Spotify's recent introduction of video-based courses shows that streaming platforms are keen to tap into the burgeoning EdTech market." I can't really see this as anything positive, Spotify being the company that basically bought all its competition in an effort to convert podcasting from an open standard to a proprietary format. According to For the Record, "BBC Maestro, PLAYvirtuoso, Skillshare, and Thinkific" are partnering with the company. More coverage, in podcast form, on Equity.
