Knowledge, Learning, Community

According to this report, though many professors (generally 60%) have heard of the use of new technologies to support learning, few have tried them and fewer still have adopted them. You can see a summary of this data in the Chronicle article. What puzzles me is how these techniques can be unfamiliar (let alone untried) by so many professors after 20 years of using technology to support learning. It marks a distinct lack of interest in the teaching side of their profession, which they will continue to perform by rote. I have no doubt these same professors are up to date on technological developments in their research.
