From D'Arcy Norman and CETIS comes this link to the IMS Vocabulary Definition Exchange. The purpose of VDEX, in a nutshell, is to allow people to define and exchange vocabularies for learning object and related metadata. Wilbert Kraan summarizes, "Outside of fun exercises for linguistics undergraduates, the main application of vocabularies in learning technology is to facilitate the tailoring of existing, global standards to the needs of a particular community, i.e. application profiling."
