It's a bit weitd. We use autofill all the time, and in the world of browsers (Chrome, Firefox) and password managers (I use 1Password) this use is expanding, as wdescribed here. Yet Amazon is threatening Perplexity for doing the same thing on customers' behalf. Why? "They're more interested in serving you ads, sponsored results, and influencing your purchasing decisions with upsells and confusing offers," says Perplexity. Amazon responds, "third-party shopping agents should operate openly and respect service provider decisions." My response? If I'm paying the money I'll fill out the forms any way I please, and Amazon can take it or leave it. Meanwhile: there's a whole world of security considerations around auto-filling upload data that has yet to be properly addressed.
