Australian University Repositories (Research and Publications)

Neil Godfrey has posted a list with links of Australian universities' open access repositories. It is interesting to see the range of repository software being used. It would also be nice to see such a list for Canadian institutions (it's probably shorter; we're really slow off the mark on this whole open access thing). Via Open Access News. Re: Australian University Repositories (Research and Publications)

Hi Stephen,

I'm not going to claim that it's completely authoritative but OpenDOAR's listing of Canadian OA Repositories is a good start for what you're looking for.

Their search for Canada gives 42 repositories with OA content.
Software in use includes: Archimedes, Bepress, Digitool, DSpace (most with 20 users), Eprints,ETd-db, Manitou.

11 of these repositories list that they store 'learning objects' but I know that OpenDOAR would be the first to admit that trying to finding any kind of comprehensive list of repositories managing learning materials (OA or not) is a very different kettle of fish.

ROAR (another registry service lists 46 repositories in Canada) - but may include experimental repositories. It also when possible creates graphs of thier growth over time.

Interestingly OpenDOAR lists 9 other repositories that don't show up on the previous Australian list.

kind regards,
