SSHRC - National Consultation on Research Data Archiving, Management and Access Systems

I hadn't seen this before Daniel Lemire sent me an email, but there's still plenty of time to get your submissions in - the deadline is October 31, 2005. Basically, the question is whether Canada's Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council should institute a process of open archiving, or as the email says, "Should SSHRC adopt a regulation requiring that one copy of all research results be deposited in an institutional repository? Should such a regulation apply to all forms of research outputs..." Searching through Google I've seen a number of submissions on this already. Anyhow, get your word in; it's a chance to make a difference. Press Release, , September 7, 2005 10:46 a.m.. [Link] 21454 [Previous][Next]

Re: SSHRC - National Consultation on Research Data Archiving, Management and Access Systems

WEll in theory we are invited to contribute? BUt on the SSHRC webdite idsis virtually impossible to find where one might send in an e-mail?? For decades I have worked on and off , on federally funded projects, and aside from the summaries in reports I don't think any data got archived. It is a great idea to make archiving raw data compulsory PROVIDING that full information on how it was obtained and how it is coded is directly associated with the data-files.and providing one can link to the exact archives from our presentations and journal publications etc. Yours truly Prof. Gary Boyd Concordia Univ.
