Evidence and Theory Confirmation
Western Canada Philosophical Association, Western Canada Philosophical Association, Calgary, Alberta, Lecture, Oct 11, 1989.
The problem of induction is the well-known proposition that evidence is insufficient to confirm theories, based on the idea that theories are underdetermined by the evidence. This paper finds the problem to be found in the logicist method of theory confirmation rather than in the paucity of the evidence.
