This paper (21 page PDF) describes the use of an ethereum network to manage an internet of things (IoT) ecosystem, creating a blockchain of things (BCoT). "Blockchain has actually attracted applications in vital fields because it provides many advantages over centralized database such as traceability, confidentiality, availability and trust," write the authors. The system is intended the problem of cyberattacks on IoT networks by ensure provenance of data, verifying data processing (such as decription algorithms), and consistency of data records. Obviously we wouldn't want to use a Proof of Work (PoW) algorithm, as described here, but we would want to use web3 and IPFS for data storage. "A private blockchain is a preferred option over a public one for implementation within a single organization due to its high efficiency." Educational uses would include defining and securing a persistent data layer for virtual reality and augmented reality applications. €:
