Publishers drag Shopify to court over allegations of selling pirated books
Sovan Mandal, Good e-Reader, 2021/12/09

Ottawa-based Shopify is being sued by (who else?) book publishers. They accuse Shopify, which helps people set up their own online shops, of facilitating copyright violations. For its own part, Shopify says it responds immediately when if finds out about violations. What I wonder is, why don't these publishers sue Amazon, or eBay? I guess it's just easier to dump on a company operating in Canada. The case is being heard in east Virginia.
