On-Line Teaching and Learning
The MAUDL List Server

Welcome to MAUDL

You have been pre-subscribed to this list in preparation for the CADE Internet Seminar.

This mailing list is dedicated to the discussion of the pedagogical potential of Multiple Academic User Domains. or 'MAUDs' (c) 1993. MAUDs are descendants of Multiple User Domains and are intended to be used primarily (although not solely) as an educational telecommunication environment.

You may have been asked to join this list because you are going to partake in a virtual conference or seminar in the near future. Accordingly, the information that you will receive via MAUDL (pronounced: 'model') will assist you in understanding MAUDs as well as providing you with guidelines on how to communicate and 'get about' in the virtual environment.

You may have joined this list because of your desire to consult with or discuss with other users or coders ('wizards') of the MAUD. Please feel free to do so here or by posting on one of the numerous bulletin boards on The Painted Porch MAUD located at:

    telnet maud.cariboo.bc.ca 4000.

(Please Note: If you are using a VMS system, you may need to use the following extension instead of the one listed above: telnet maud.cariboo.bc.ca /port=4000. These directions will be repeated in a message that will be sent to you shortly.)

If you would like to have a bulletin board created for your specific group, please contact one of the administrators on the MAUD. These are: Jeff McLaughlin (jmclaughlin@cariboo.bc.ca) MAUDNAME: KANE,and Stephen Downes (downes@adminnet.assiniboinec.mb.ca) MAUDNAME: LABATT. We would be happy to set one up for you.

You are invited to remain subscribed to MAUDL after you have attended your conference. You may use it to continue the various threads of thought that may have developed during your brief visit (especially in regards to the various aspects of using MAUDs). However, we would like to point out that MAUD BASIC COMMANDS will be sent out on the list every time there is a new virtual conference as new participants will always be required to subscribe to MAUDL before taking their MAUD tutorial . Therefore we ask for your patience on this and all similar matters.

Here are the basic commands for using this list.
