  1. The heart of teaching
    • The heart of teaching is a metaphor that describes the relationship between planning and teaching, and the diagram
    • You may need to print the slide notes so that you can read them as you proceed through the slide show.
    • As you proceed through the slide show, reflect on how you can use these ideas in future planning and instructing.

  2. Reading a course outline
    • Before you begin to a lesson, you should know how to read the course outline. Each lesson should be related to one or more of the general objectives and one or more of the specific learning objectives of the course.
    • There are many formats for course outlines but we are going to learn how to read the one in this slide show.
    • In the course outline there is a place for a listing of all textbooks that learners must purchase. Each textbook is listed using a complete bibliography. There are many different formats for text bibliography however we are using Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. (1995). Washington: American Psychological Association.
