StudySoup Launches Online Marketplace for Digital Course Content

 
SAN FRANCISCO - Sept. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- As the school season kicks off, StudySoup is today unveiling its Education Marketplace, an online marketplace for interactive education course content for colleges and universities.

The educational technology startup provides an e-commerce and collaborative annotation platform for faculty and students. It allows educators to upload and deliver course content in the cloud, and students can access the material online or offline using a computer or device with any screen size. It is compatible with Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer 9+.

With the release of the public Education Marketplace tool, any user can sign up for a seller’s account, create a course by adding .pdf documents, audio and video, and then distribute it to their customer base using the Marketplace.

The seller can collect a fee, and StudySoup keeps roughly 15 percent of the royalties, distributing the rest to the course creator.

Since its launch at UC Santa Barbara in September 2012, StudySoup has been deployed at more than 40 campuses, including UCLA, University of Oregon, and University of Minnesota.

Kati Somogyi, manager of UCLA Academic Publishing, says: “StudySoup is very intuitive, easily accessible, and great price wise.”

“Often times, college bookstores and small publishers don’t have the technology to make their content interactive and sellable in a digital marketplace. We help them get online quickly, and provide much-needed tools for their students,” says Sieva Kozinsky, StudySoup’s CEO.

The StudySoup Education Marketplace can also be used by teachers starting as early as kindergarten level.
