Site to Phone

This is one of the coolest things that I’ve seen in a while.

One of the most frustrating things I do can be trying to type a URL correctly on my phone.  It’s no fault of the phone; it’s just small and I don’t care who you are – your fingers are bigger than the phone keyboard.

So, that’s reason #1 to take a look at this.

But, the second is even more helpful.  Often, I’ll be browsing the web and find a good link to a resource that I don’t necessarily want to open on the computer but I really want it on the phone.  I could email the link to myself or whip the phone out and carefully type the URL from the computer screen on the phone.  Another way is to copy the link to Evernote or to my Dropbox and then open it on the mobile.

Or….I could use Site to Phone.

What a great concept.  A little setup is required on your computer and then on your mobile but then you’re good to go.  The resource supports Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, iPod, iPhone, iPad, WebOS, Windows Phones, Android devices, and Blackberry Devices.  In fact, it’s like they almost dare you to find something from this century that doesn’t work!

If you’re looking for a boost in productivity, this may be just what you’re looking for.

  1. Too bad this service is shutting down now :(. There is nothing that can match it’s simplicity. I see a site or an image. I right click and then click send to phone. On my phone I just select the sitetophone app(which is really a web shortcut). It then automatically brings up the last thing I sent from my desktop. I am now trying to use evernote but instead of taking 3 steps with sitetophone.com, It now takes 7 clicks to do that same thing I did before with ease.
