From the latest issue of Wired:

Who knew it was a noun?

Thanks to Jerry Slezak for getting me started all over again 🙂

  3. All hail Reverend Jim! The Edupunk revolution has been made real by recognition from an established Big Media Outlet. Next step? Release “The Best of Edupunk” DVD box set for sale at the local CostCo! 😉

but very, very cool Jim. Now I gotta pick up a copy of that rag…

  4. Scott Leslie says:

Isn’t it funny how someone managed to sum up (& not too badly I’d say) in 25 words a term that caused the chattering classes to spill 1000s upon 1000s of words debating its meaning and the very possibility of its existence? (AND reference The Clash to boot!!!)

Rev, bask in it baby. But don’t get too comfortable, next up, Warner Brothers will be calling to sign the EduGlu Singers to do a version of “We’re so bored with the LMS”

  5. Jim….you’re protoedupunk!

    =^)

  6. For a number of reasons this post bring me to hear thi song:

    My my, hey hey
Rock and roll (Edupunk) is here to stay
    It’s better to burn out
    Than to fade away
    My my, hey hey.

Out of the blue and into the black
They give you this, but you pay for that
And once you’re gone, you can never come back
When you’re out of the blue and into the black.

The king is gone but he’s not forgotten
This is the story of a johnny rotten
It’s better to burn out than it is to rust
The king is gone but he’s not forgotten.

    Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
    There’s more to the picture
    Than meets the eye.
    Hey hey, my my.

Lets celebrate this recognition in Wired singing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwwcllwq67I

    Hey,hey, my,my Jim Groom

  15. pumpkin says:

Fame and capitalist fortune will soon descend upon you…the Rev in “Blogging with the Stars” …”EDTech Survivor: tribe wpmu vs drupal”

  16. Reverend says:

    Pumpkin,

I think I can do a pretty good alienating the fame and fortune part, hence the post title 🙂

Hmmm, you have given me an idea for an upcoming video: Drupal vs. WPMu in the wild.

  17. Martin says:

Limos, merchandise, drug burn-out and an Edupunk reunion gig in 10 years time – this is your life now.

  18. Bradley Hart says:

These are the kinds of things I wish users would submit to my new internet slang dictionary which is really lacking in user input at the moment.

What plugin do you use to insert flickr and youtube into comments? That is really cool.

  19. I figure he’s holding out for the groupies. he’s got the rest of the lifestyle down, and the mad Edupunk cash is rolling in….

  20. Steven Egan says:

I disagree with a part of the definition. “Rebellious” doesn’t properly get the attitude across. It’s more like “revolution”. However, done properly, we could end up with two seperate systems that work with each other, and keep each other in check. Mainstream culture and counter-culture is the relationship I see, with Edupunk being the counter-culture, part of why the term is so applicable.
