"What we really want to do is ensure that, whoever is recruiting isn't consciously or unconsciously favoring a person who attended a certain school or university." From my perspective, people from elite universities are certainly over-represented in many industries, but they don't actually appear to be more capable than people from other universities. I'd stack up the people I graduated with at the University of Calgary to any of them.
