I have essentially the same reaction, and not just regarding this particular publication. "Why would educators choose, in this day and age, to participate in a system that does nothing but enrich publishers and locks down information? Why not license this work under Creative Commons? Why not follow the model of the Public Library of Science Journals? Or Open Access Journals?"
