Notes Page for Slide Out3

Below is an explanation of each of the headings of a course outline.

  • Course name: list the course name
  • Course number: if the course is part of a program, the college will provide it with a number. This is a registration function so that the students can be registered in the course and therefore have their fees registered and later clients can receive a transcript of their marks.
  • Program to which Course is Taught: this only applies to courses that are part of a program. Otherwise just type in N/A.
  • Total Course Hours: type in the number of hours you assigned to the course.
  • Total Credit Hours: this only applies to courses that are part of a program that assigns credit hours. Otherwise type in N/A.
  • Text: We need a complete bibliography of any textbooks that learners must buy when they register for the course. This does not include any handouts that you supply or instructor’s reference texts. List only what texts learners must buy. A complete bibliography can be used by other instructors and future instructors who may need to order it or decide if it is the textbook they want to use.
  • Examples:
    • Miller, G.T., Jr. (1990). Resource conservation and management. Belmont: Wadsworth Publishing Company.
    • Goodstein, L.D., Nolan, M., & Pheiffer, J.W. (1993). Applied strategic planning. Toronto: McGraw-Hill, Inc.
