  • The plan for evaluating student learning is part of any lesson plan. I have pulled this out as a separate step because it is often forgotten. Refer to the Cul-de-sac of Planning for a review. Because this is an isolated lesson, likely your evaluation instrument will be informal.
  • Informal evaluation means that you will not mark or assess it for marks. Examples of informal evaluation includes,

    1. Questions and answers
    2. Students summarizing the lesson
    3. Students applying the concepts and/or skills to other situations (home, business, other courses, other lessons, new situations).

  • If you are going to use student questions and answers, develop the questions at this time so that your informal evaluation meets the objectives of the lesson. These questions will be handed in as part of this step.
  • Be sure you describe the process that you will use to implement this instrument.
