Latest Apprenticeships Stats Suggest Increase in Commencements, But Overall Decline The National Centre for Vocational Education Research has released its estimates of apprentice and trainee activity in Australia for the quarter ending 30 June 2005. The number of individuals undertaking vocational training through a contracted training arrangement at 30 June was 391 200, a decrease of 2% over a 12-month period. Commencements in apprenticeships increased 4% during the year, including an 11% rise with individuals aged 45 years and over.
