Phthong This is a Web site for a tutorial programme for the phonemic transcription of English and other written languages that use the roman alphabet, Phthong. There are two types of exercises available in Phthong, both designed for Linguistics Department courses at the University of Toronto. The first type presents a phonemically transcribed word and asks the user to enter the corresponding English word. The second kind of exercise presents an English word and asks the user to enter the phonemic equivalent. Guido Mazzoni Collection This Web site makes available an online catalogue of the Guido Mazzoni Collection, a collection of around 50,000 documents, relating mostly to Italian studies, held at Duke University, North Carolina. The documents date from 1572 to 1946 and include: pamphlets; newspapers; clippings; periodicals; political satire; and poetry. Users can search the catalogue database by keyword or browse entries, which are divided for convenience under subject headings such as: Italian literature, language, and periodicals; musicology; philosophy; travel; and World War One and Two. Istituto Pio Paschini This is the Web site of Istituto Pio Paschini (Pio Paschini Institute), an organisation based in Udine, Italy, that aims to conserve and organise ecclesiastical archives and libraries in Friuli. Established in 1982, it promotes research in the history of the church in Friuli. This Web resource makes available articles on the church, local history, and manuscripts. Archivio diocesano di Udine This is the Web site of the Archivio diocesano di Udine (Diocese archive of Udine), which is an archive based in Udine that was established in 1740. It holds thousands of documents and manuscripts relating to Italian history, to Friuli region in particular. The archive contains lay and religious, private and institutional material, including legal proceedings. Fondo Alberto Moravia This is the Web site of the Fondo Alberto Moravia (Alberto Moravia Foundation), an organisation dedicated to the life and works of the well-known Italian novelist, playwright, and essayist Alberto Moravia (1907-1990). The Arabic language The Arabic Language is a Web site for a non-profit organisation supported by the Educational Research Centre at the University of King Saud in Saudi Arabia. The site is mainly in Arabic. Founded in 2003, it aims primarily at providing a full list of all research papers and theses related to teaching of the Arabic language, and published in Saudi Arabia and the other Arab countries.
