Rise of the 'Elemiddle' School The author of this article in The School Administrator March 2005 argues that research is showing that students in elemiddle schools (USA) are outperforming students in schools with other grade-span configurations, most notably grades 5-8 and 6-8 that may be incorrectly calling themselves 'middle schools.' In terms of student achievement, whenever well-implemented elemiddles are compared to well-implemented middle schools, the elemiddles come out on top.
