Keynote address at the Online Educa Berlin conference, which I attended last week. There are two major themes: first, the increasing prevalence of online surveillance (including an example where a school board spied on students and teachers using their own video cameras), and the increasing prevalence of digital locks, and treaties prohibiting the opening of digital locks, even on devices you own. Thus, for example, you can't repair your car or use non-compliant printer cartridges. And you can't prevent your devices from spying on you.
